Knitwear Design has gradually developed from its perception as hand knitting to a global industry for fashion apparel .The play of knit provides the backbone for baby-wear, kids wear, sportswear, casual apparel, winter wear, lingerie and intimate apparels .This industry has grown and has been showing its versatility in all other areas of fashion which was previously limited to woven fabric across the global ramp .
The Knitwear Design Department attends to the need of specialized professionals for the knitwear domain of Fashion Apparel & Accessories Industry. This program provides students a comprehensive approach towards designing and execution of knitwear fashion garments and products. Students are given inputs in the latest technological knowhow .They are also made aware of design inputs to deal with latest trend and forecast .

What You Learn
Students are given an introduction of Fashion Knit-wear Design where they will learn the basic principles of creative fabric and garment construction .They will also be introduced to a wide range of specialist equipment to nurture their practical skills .Through studio workshops and tutorials, students will build skills in areas such as colour, visual research, idea generation, , fashion styling, and fashion illustration ,fabric creation, 3D form .Design, Culture and Context will test research, presentation, and writing skills.
One will learn about the power of images, objects, and materials in visual and material culture .Through different creative projects the student will develop a further awareness of the practice of design within the global fashion knitwear industry. One will gain experience of computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacture (CAM).He will also develop a range of skills to communicate design ideas professionally .
One will also start to prepare for placement year, with sessions that will range from CV building, letters of application, interview techniques, and portfolio development .In the first half of the year one will consider the role played by design in the creation of desire in trend-driven consumer culture. In the second, one will focus on creating a negotiated, individual brief in preparation for your final year project.
